David Schweer, MD

Dr. Schweer is a four year research-track clinical fellow in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer. Originally from Virginia, he completed his undergraduate education at Virginia Commonwealth University and medical school at Virginia Tech. He completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fl. During his residency he received several awards and recognitions for scholarly activity, research, and teaching. During his residency he served as ACOG Junior Fellow Section chair and on hospital committees for Surgical Site Infections and OR scheduling. Dr. Schweer is a recipient of the NIH T32: Oncology Research Training for Surgeon-Scientists grant. His current research interests include translational, precision medicine in ovarian cancer and surgical quality and improvement. He is currently working in Dr. Jill Kolesar’s laboratory at the Markey Cancer Center testing novel therapeutics in platinum-resistant ovarian cancer cell line.
