Bio / Education: 

Dr. Riggs is a clinical fellow in gynecologic oncology at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brooke Army Medical Center through the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium and is currently an Active Duty Air Force Captain undergoing additional fellowship training. During her residency, she received multiple awards for excellence in teaching and mentorship, served as the House Staff Council President and was involved in several hospital leadership subcommittees, and served as the ACOG Junior Fellow Air Force Section Chair and Vice-Chair. She received her Medical Doctorate from East Tennessee State University’s James H. Quillen College of Medicine and grew up in East Tennessee. During medical school, she was selected to pursue the Rural Primary Care Track and remains passionate about rural and underserved medicine today.

Research Description: 

Dr. Riggs’ current interests include precision medicine and personalizing cancer care, particularly in endometrial cancer. She is currently working in Dr. Jill Kolesar’s laboratory at the Markey Cancer Center to recognize novel gene mutations through whole exome sequencing with the hopes of finding more individualized predictors of prognosis and targets for future therapy.
